Evans Dermatology is the leading psoriasis treatment center in Central Texas.
This is a result of Dr. Evans’s long-time interest and continued studies in caring for patients with psoriasis. Following his residency in dermatology, Dr. Evans completed an additional year of training at the St. Johns Institute of Dermatology in London, England. St. John’s is nationally and internationally regarded for its reputation in clinical and research excellence and while there, Dr. Evans was fortunate to work with many international psoriasis experts. Dr. Evans also volunteers extensively in support of psoriasis patient care, including as Chairman-Elect of the Board of Trustees for the National Psoriasis Foundation.
What is Psoriasis?
Psoriasis is a chronic, life-long, recurrent condition characterized by pink or red, scaly plaques on the body, frequently on the scalp, lower back, elbows, and knees. It can also occur on the hands and feet, which can sometimes interfere with working or normal activities. The severity varies widely from patient to patient, some with only a few spots to others with nearly the entire body affected. Although the cause of psoriasis is largely unknown, what we do know is that it is not contagious. About 20-30% of patients with psoriasis on their skin have associated joint pain, called psoriatic arthritis. Patients often experience morning stiffness or stiffness in certain joints after long periods of sitting or rest. If left untreated, it can cause permanent damage to the joints.
While you may have lived with your psoriasis for years and potentially view it as simply a cosmetic condition, at Evans Dermatology we know it can have a serious impact on your quality of life, including occupational or social difficulties as well as potential increased risk for depression or heart disease. The exciting news is there are many treatments possibilities available for consideration. At Evans Dermatology we offer a comprehensive range of treatment options for psoriasis and will work with you to put together a treatment plan that fits your unique needs, outcome desires, and lifestyle.
